This photo shows Phil 987 performing a 4/20-themed comedy show that took place in 2019. Matteo Pascale worked as an associate producer on this show.

To start with the background lore of New York City's most offensive comedian, I'm speaking of Phil 987. Phil definitely made an impression on people's minds, even if they felt like they were witnessing a fever dream of madness unfolding before their eyes. I've known Phil 987 for nearly ten years now. For how shocking his jokes and material can be, over the years of knowing him, he has achieved these two major comedy credits. The first major booking credit for Phil 987 was being booked on a much less revered episode for a series of shows called "Comedy 101" for The Ron Bennington Show on Sirius XM." In contrast, doing a simple Google search to give the proper name of these past events. There are several articles describing these shows as being a "fever dream" as well. Apparently, many of the posted audio files of Phil 987 that were booked on "Comedy 101" for The Ron Bennington Show on Sirius XM" have been deleted or wiped for whatever reason. When Phil 987 was booked on this series, he performed what, hands down, had to be the most cringeworthy comedy set I've witnessed. Lastly, this set was done at The Stand, which was packed. Now, addressing the second-biggest accomplishment Phil 987 achieved is his winning and coming in first place at The Stress Factory's March Madness Contest. Unfortunately, I really do not have much information on that chain of events.

Phil 987's jokes and set material can be compared to the fictional cartoon character Uncle Ruckus on Adult Swim's The Boondocks. This is not in any way hyperbolic, but honestly, a twisted fact. I will need to go on a quick tangent for this portion of the blog post. A while back, what feels like only a few months ago, I posted a video on The Greg & Rob Podcast on YouTube titled "Phil 987 Comedy Set Compilation I The Greg & Rob Podcast." which resulted in the YouTube Channel, as fast as one can think or blink, received a "warning" from YouTube.

When I received this warning from YouTube, I thought, “It's truly a sad state of affairs that YouTube wrote me and said, “We think it violates” their policy about hate speech. Plus, finding the whole thing just so funny because YouTube using the word "think" somehow adds or imply grey areas. I am telling you the straight facts about the comedy stylings of Phil 987. No joke, it's like listening to a YouTube video titled The Best Moments of Uncle Ruckus. I must add that YouTube is flooded with fan-edited compilation videos of Uncle Ruckus from Adult Swim's The Boondocks. Anyway, when Phil 987 was booked roughly two years back on The Greg & Rob Podcast for a live contest episode, "Freaking Madness Comedy Competition at Wawa Social Club," yes, he killed a packed room and, secondly, was so offensive that when the episode aired publicly, as the producer I felt like having to make a public disclaimer and I did. This was what the disclaimer stated:

"DISCLAIMER: Matteo Pascale requested to edit and delete the offensive content from Phil 987 but was denied permission by the show’s creators, Greg & Rob Cardazone. Matteo Pascale apologizes for any material that offends the public."

I co-hosted and produced a live podcast event with Greg and Rob Cardazone. The Judge's Panel consisted of Farooq Hussain, Antonio Giurato, Travis Grant, Rob Cardazone, and Joe Mahoney. Additional information is needed to bring this blog post to one of many destinations. This compilation of Phil 987 is from "The Greg & Rob Podcast: #24. LIVE SHOW: Freaking Madness Comedy Competition at Wawa Social Club" For other related content to The Greg & Rob Podcast, visit The Greg & Rob Podcast Video Channel and listen to the audio podcast on must RSS feed streaming platforms. Now that shameless plug is out of the way. The blog can go on and on.

WARNING: Viewer Discretion is Advised.

The much-needed background reading and context on who Phil 987 is and has been addressed is out of the way. So, to begin this blog post on what it's genuinely going to focus on, and hopefully, there will be future installments. To start this first installment, I received the screenshot from Phil 987.

The next section of this blog post will chronologically present several texts I received from Phil 987; it begins like this.

The whole image of Phil 987 is next to a church in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he walked, starting this trek in Lower Manhattan.

Back to the text messages I received from Phil 987. I asked where he had been sleeping. Phil 987 responded by saying.

Phil 987 happened to randomly meet a group of religious fundamentalists on the road at the same time on their way to New Orleans. I can only imagine the weirdness of that scene: Phil 987 being stuck on a bus for several hours with those religious fundamentalists and, of course, whatever crazy was represented by everyone on that bus. These are three images Phil 987 texted me.

I feel it's worth mentioning that the darkest reason for writing this first installment of Phil 987, trekking on foot across state lines, is absolutely attributed to 1. Fascination. The fascination with how bizarre and odd this trek was, and 2. Caution and concern for the very high statistic of Phil 987 on a future cross-state-line trek on foot, that could lead to Phil 987 possibly becoming a missing person. That said, it has been a whole week since I was contacted by Phil 987 to inform me that he made it to his destination of New Orleans. I was a bit nervous if he would make it back to New York City, so I decided to text him.

I will keep everyone in the loop if there is a second installment of this series.
