At this point, it’s been close to a decade now. I’ve been completely fascinated with the figure that is Momus. He has a massive catalog of extraordinary, strange projects under his belt. I feel it’s best to briefly summarize who Momus is by quoting Wikipedia’s article on him. Wikipedia has written regarding Momus, “For over forty years, he has been releasing albums on labels in the United Kingdom, the United Kingdom, The United States, and Japan. In his lyrics and his other writing, he makes use of continental philosophy, and has built up a personal world he says is “dominated by values like diversity, orientalism, and a respect for otherness.”

To demonstrate how highly productive Momus is in producing various forms of content, please take a moment to view these two screen recordings of the body of work throughout the years. The first screen-recorded video is of the entire Wikipedia page written about him.

Now, let’s move on to the second screen-recorded video, which demonstrates years of hard, highly productive work. The video is of the professional website that Momus operates.

Finally, getting to where and why this blog post is being written. What needs to be said is that,

Momus wrote in a Patreon post made September 28th, 2024, stating, “Versions in a new feature on the Momus Patreon in which patrons can suggest a cover version…” for Momus to create.

On May 6th, 2025, Momus posted to Patreon the commonised song cover of The Horrors’ “Still Life” that I requested as part of his “Versions” series. Momus wrote on Patreon, “Matteo Pascale asked me to cover the 2011 song Still Life by The Horrors. This recording was made in Imabari, Japan.”

Later, the same day, Momus uploaded a music video onto his YouTube channel for the commissioned song cover, The Horrors’ “Still Life”, that I requested. The video description for “Momus: Still Life” on his YouTube channel can only be paraphrased by saying the description was copied and pasted from what was on his Patreon post.

This blog post is coming to the point where the fat lady is about to sing.  As a reference point, the best way of conveying the process of how many can be transformative in nature. Here are both versions of “Still Life” side by side. First is the "Still Life" music video from The Horrors, followed by the commissioned song cover and music video, which I requested Momus do as part of his "Versions" series.
